How Propane Vehicles Work

The vaporized propane must then be mixed with filtered air before it can be burned in the combustion chamber to produce power.

Liquid propane injection engines are a bit different because they don’t turn the propane into a vapor. These engines eliminate that step by sending liquid propane directly to the combustion chamber to be burned.

Propane is considered to be a clean burning fuel because it releases far fewer greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than other vehicle fuels like diesel and gasoline. Propane vehicles are also eligible for alternative fuel vehicle tax credits.
